Our commitment

The Men’s Waypoint is intended to help people find understandable information and practical pathways to support. Accessibility is therefore part of the project’s purpose, not an optional extra.

We aim to make the website usable by as many people as reasonably possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, voice input or other assistive technologies, and people with visual, hearing, physical, cognitive, learning or neurological disability.

Accessibility standard

We are working towards alignment with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA.

This is an ongoing goal. Publishing this statement does not mean that every page, document or third-party service has been formally audited or is fully conformant.

Measures we are taking

We aim to:

  • use clear page titles, headings, lists and content structure;
  • write in plain, direct language and explain unfamiliar terms;
  • maintain readable text sizing, spacing and colour contrast;
  • ensure important meaning is not communicated by colour alone;
  • provide descriptive link and button text;
  • support keyboard navigation and visible keyboard focus;
  • allow pages to reflow on mobile devices and when text is enlarged;
  • provide text alternatives for meaningful images;
  • avoid flashing, autoplaying or unnecessarily distracting content;
  • make urgent-support information easy to identify;
  • review downloadable resources for accessible structure; and
  • test important pages using more than one screen size and interaction method.

Current limitations

The website is still being developed and has not yet undergone a formal independent accessibility audit. Some barriers may therefore remain.

Possible limitations include:

  • downloadable PDF resources may not work equally well with every assistive technology;
  • WordPress, theme or plugin updates may introduce unexpected accessibility issues;
  • external websites and support services linked from this website are controlled by other organisations; and
  • older or newly published content may require further accessibility review.

We will record and address confirmed issues according to their impact and available resources. Urgent-support pathways and barriers that prevent access to essential content will receive priority.

Downloadable documents and alternative formats

We aim to make downloadable documents accessible and easy to understand. If a document is difficult to use, contact us and tell us:

  • the name or web address of the document;
  • the format you need, if known; and
  • a way for us to respond.

Where reasonably practicable, we will provide the information in another accessible format or help identify an equivalent source.

Please do not include detailed personal health information in an accessibility request.

External websites

The Men’s Waypoint links to independent government, health, crisis and support organisations. We cannot control the accessibility of their websites, phone systems, chat services or documents.

If an external service is inaccessible, you may report the problem to that organisation directly. You may also tell us so that we can check whether a suitable alternative pathway can be identified.

Accessibility feedback

We welcome reports about accessibility barriers. Helpful details include:

  • the page or resource affected;
  • what you were trying to do;
  • what went wrong;
  • the device, browser or assistive technology used, if you are comfortable providing it; and
  • the format or adjustment that may help.
